Welcome
BMW Z4 and Audi TT
Audi's TT line features a 180 or 225 horse turbocharged four-cylinder power and front- or all-wheel drive. The Audi TT's Bauhaus-flavored sportster can be optioned with a new 3.2-liter version of Volkswagen's narrow-angle VR6 engine with 250 horsepower teamed with Audi's new six-speed direct-shift preselector gearbox, which combines the features of manual and automatic transmissions.
Not only does the Audi TT have an engine and transmission that makes it responsivr and fun to drive, its styling is sure to please as well. The Audi TT's cabin is beautifully executed, with lots of well-done details worthy of a luxury marque. Audi's Roadster makes particularly good use of aluminum, highlighting the radio cover, door pulls, rollbar hoops, door sills, and more. There are no ergonomic miscues.
BMW's avant-garde Z4 has a bold design that fans will either love or hate. Electric power steering, throttle by wire, and run-flat tires add a new dynamic element, but basically the BMW Z4 retains a classic front mid-engine layout with long hood and short deck. The BMW Z4 2.5i features a 184-horse, 2.5-liter inline-six, and the BMW Z4 3.0i features a 225-horse, 3.0-liter.
With just 225 horsepower and 214 pound-feet of torque, the BMW Z4's 2979cc engine is not the most powerful in its class, yet its flexibility, refinement, and throttle response over the road are second to none.
Both cars offer a fast run ride that will impress with handling, so the decision comes down more to styling than anything else. The BMW Z4 has an all new design that will appeal to those who like a fresh look and don't want a ride that resembles anything else on the road. The Audi TT has a more classic look, and reflects the classic idea of how a sports car should be styled with luxury elements that are all its own.
